William Earl Finley has provided a correction and supporting documentation regarding his Grandfather Dozier Finley. His name was Dozier Finley not Hugh Dozier Finley. This is evident as well in the letter entitled, "Our Fore Fathers" written but Newton Gleaves Finley, the father of Dozier Finley, wherein Newton Gleaves Finley records in his own handwriting his sons first name as being Dozier. Also, all Finley's in the Finley family genealogy written down by Newton Gleaves Finley in the same letter and appear at the end of the letter are listed by their first names only. Of further note, Cynthiana Finley Elliot, daughter of Dozier Finley, who provided this information originally spells her name first name Cynthiana not Cynthia. William Earl Finley is the youngest son of William Latta Finley who was Dozier Finley and Mary Bingham Latta Finley's eldest son.

The names of Dozier Finley and Mary Bingham Latta Finley's children in birth order are William Latta Finley, Mary Dozier Finley Decker, Cynthiana Finley Elliot and Hugh Dozier Finley.
