12 September 1766 - Upon the Petition of James Martin assignee of John Martin
against James McKnight for a Debt Due by and of hand. This day came the Plaintif
by Francis Dade his attorney and the Defendant being duly summoned was solomnly
called but came not. It is therefore considered by the court that the Plaintif
recover against the said Defendant four pounds current money with legal Interest
thereon after the rate of Five per centum por Annum to be computed from the
fifteenth day of July one thousand seven hundred and sixty five until the same
shall be paid together with his costs by him in his behalf appended and a Lawyers

Scallerday David Beaty Thomas Awbrey Nathan Cockrane & James Armstrong who being
elected tried and sworn the truth to speak upon the issue Joined upon their oaths
do say that the defendant did not assume upon himself in manner and form as the
Plaintiff against him hath Complained it is therefore Considered by the court
that the plaintiff take nothing by his bill but for his false clamour be in mercy
vc And that the defendant go hence without day and recover against the plaintiff
his costs by him about his defence In this behalf Expended and on the motion of
the Plaintiff a new Trial is Granted him he paying costs of the Present Trial and
on the motion of defendant a dedimusis Awarded him to take the deposition of
James McVay giving Plaintiff notice of the time & place of taking the same.

12 June 1792 - Mary McKnight vs. Daniel Bartlett. On the motion of the Defendant
by his Attorney It is Ordered that the Office Judgment in this suit be set aside
and thereupon he pleads that he doth not owe unto the Plaintiff the debt in the
declaration mentioned to which the Plaintiff replies Generally. Order Book

11 June 1793 - McKnight vs. CWealth - Ordered that the Commonwealth of Virginia
pay unto Uriah McKnight Seventy five Pounds of tobacco he having attended this
Court three days as a Witness against John & Andrew Simsons.

13 January 1794 - Wm. McKnight Admin - Upon the motion of Margarett McKnight Eli
McKnight & Uriah McKnight who made oath according to law certificate is granted
them for obtaining Letters of Administration on the estate of William McKnight
deceased in due form of law giving security whereupon they with Thomas Humphrey
and George Brown their security entered into and acknowledged their bond in the
Penalty of one thousand pounds conditioned as the Law directs.

her Guardian who with Saml Spencer his Security entered into & Acknowledged their
Bond in the penalty of two Hundred and fifty pounds with Condition as the Law

representatives of William McKnight decd Ordered that Abner Osborne, Richard
Thatcher George Brown & John Warford or any three of them do divide the Estate of
William McKnight deceased between his representatives and allot to each their
respective share and make report thereof to the Court. Order Book

bind out Lydia McKnight aged eight years the 28th of October last to griffith

Presley Saunders of the other part fully provide by the oath of Robert J. Taylor

11 December 1804 - Deed between Charles McNight of the one part to Presley
Sanders of the other part proved by the oath of Joseph Smith one of the
subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be certified. Order

DATE??? - Nancy McNight Orphan of made choise with the approbation of the
Court of Uriah McNight as her Guardian whereupon the said Uriah McNight entered
into and acknowledged his bond with security according to Law.

15 November 1805 - Thomas James vs. Eli McKnight. This day came the Plaintiff by
his Attorney and thereupon came also a Jury to with same as Mcfarland against
Carles(?) who being elected tried & sworn will and truly to enquire of Damages
upon their Oaths do say that the Defendant did assume in manner and form as the
Plaintiff against him hath declared and they do assess the Pltfs damage by reason
of the detention thereof to one Cent besides costs It is therefore considered by
the Court that the Plf recover against the Deft Thirty five dollars with Interest
thereon of the rate of 6 per Centum per annum to be computed from the 7th day of
March 1803 the payment together with the Damages aforesaid in form aforesaid
assessed and his costs by him in his behalf expended and the said Deft in Nercy

15 March 1806 - Uriah McKnight vs John Peacock & James. On motion of the Defts
by their Attorney It is ordered that the Office Judgment herein be set aside and
payment for Thomas Price common bail of James Plead and Joined. Order Book

14 August 1806 - McKnight vs Peacock &. On motion of the Plf leave is given him

13(?) November 1806 - Uriah McKnight vs John Peacock & David James. The Defts by
his attorney acknowledges the Plfs action Judgment is granted the Plf against the
Deft vc Thos Price common bail for fifty five dollars with lawful Interest
thereon from the 25(?) day of April 1803? till payment and costs. Credit for
$18.00 paid 6th April 1804 $17.00 paid December 2d 1804 and $4.16 paid February
18th 1805. Execution stayed till 21st this month. Order Book

a forth coming bond Notice being proved by James Rast John Peacock & William
Silcott Judgment is granted the Plf against them for Sixty six dollars and
eighteen Cents to be discharged by the payment of Thirty three dollars & nine
Cents with lawful Interest thereon from the 8th day of January 1807 till payment
