In the name of god Amen, the fourth day of April 1766, I John
Henderson of the County of Augusta and Colony of Virginia
farmer--being very sick and weak in body: but of perfect mind and
memory, thanks be unto God therefore calling into mind the mortality
of my body, and knowing that ?? is anointed for all men ?? to die, do
make and ordain this my last will and testament, that is to say,
principaly and first of all, I give and recommend my soul into the
hands of God that gave it, and my body I ?? to earth to be buried in
decent Christian Burial at the discretion of my Executors: Nothing
Doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same
again: By the almighty Power of God and as touching such worldly
Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this Life. I give
and ?? of the same in the following manner and form. Imprimis= I give
and bequeath to Rose, my dearly beloved wife: the third of all real
and personal estate that I possess---and the remainder of my ??? to
my Executors discretion in order to discharge my lawful and just
debts -- and my real estate I give to my son William by him to be
freely possess and enjoyed. Save my wife's share before mentioned
which I forever give the discretion and disposing, and likewise
William shall pay to each of his sisters fifteen pounds out of his
share and if either of them by gods providence should be removed (by
death) the other shall enjoy it:-- and I do hereby utterly disallow
revoke and disannul all and every other testaments, wills, legacies
and bequests and Executors. By this and no other, to be my last will
and testament, In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and
seal the day and year above written.
