David and Elizabeth of Augusta Co., to John Johnston, 648 acres,

THIS INDENTURE made on the twenty first day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety four between David Finley and Elizabeth his wife of the County of Augusta on the one part and John Johnston of the County aforesaid on the other part WITNESSETH that the said David Finley and Elizabeth in consideration of the sum of eleven hundred pounds in hand paid the receipt thereof is hereby acknowledged have given granted, bargained and sold unto the said John Johnston three certain tracts or parcels of Land in the County of Augusta containing by estimation six hundred and forty eight acres be the same more or less bounded as followeth TO WIT the first tract BEGINNING at a black walnut and hickory in Alexander Breckenridges line thence North 30 degrees West 232 poles to a white oak in the bottom thence South 40 degrees West 232 poles to a white oak and hickory thence South 50 degrees E 40 poles to a stake thence South 40 degrees W 60 poles to a small pine near a white oak thence South 30 degrees East 102 poles to a white oak and thence North 59 degrees East 266 poles to the BEGINNING this tract including Three hundred acres agreeable to the original patent - The other tract containing two hundred and thirty eight acres BEGINNING at a white oak by a draft a corner of the aforesaid Land, and North 30 degrees West 130 poles to a white oak and black oak on a ridge thence North 52 degrees West 48 poles to two hickories and white oak by a draft thence South West 42 poles to a white oak by said draft thence South 21 degrees West 154 poles to a pine and white oak on limestone ridge South 69 degrees East 12 poles to two white oaks and black oak saplins thence South 21 degrees West 130 poles to a pine on a high ridge thence South 36 degrees East 100 poles to near a black oak and North 40 degrees East 54 poles to a white oak a corner of the aforesaid old survey, and thence North 35 degrees East 232 poles with the aforesaid old line to the Beginning. The other tract containing by survey bearing date the 18th day of November 1790 one hundred and ten acres on the South Side of John Finleys land Beginning at a white oak and hickory said Finleys old corner and running with his line South 37 degrees West 54 poles to a white oak, thence North 36 degrees West 100 poles to a pine on a high ridge thence South 6 degrees East 70 poles to a white oak corner to James Wilsons line thence South 12 degrees West 62 poles crossing the great road to a white oak and two black oak saplins thence South 46 degrees East 160 poles to two black oak saplins on John Hopmans line thence North 23 degrees East 24 poles to a black oak and hickory saplins Hopmans corner, thence North 50 East 38 poles to a black oak saplin Hopmans corner thence South 75 degrees East 10 poles to a white oak said Finleys corner thence with his lines North 35 degrees West 102 poles to a small pine near a white oak thence North 35 degrees East 60 poles to a stake Finleys corner and thence North 35 degrees West 50 poles to the Beginning with all their appurtenances To have and To hold the said tracts or parcels of Lands with all its appurtenances to the said John Johnston and his heirs forever and the said David Finley and Elizabeth his wife for themselves, their heirs, executors and administrators do covenant with the said John Johnston and his heirs that they the said David Finley and Elizabeth their heirs, executors and administrators the said tract of Land with their appurtenances to the said John Johnston and his heirs will forever warrant and defend IN WITNESS whereof the said David Finley and Elizabeth hath set their hands and seals on the day and year aforesaid

This Indenture of Bargain and sale from David Finley and Elizabeth his wife to John Johnston was acknowledged by said Finley and wife she having been first privily examined as the Law directs and ordered to be recorded.
