1767 - Robert Finley (4-02-53) marries Martha Rosanna Steele (Stout, page 64). Stout says he is son of William and Mary (Wallace) Finley.

1769 - Robt. Finley listed as representative at Sinking Spring on Cautaba & James River (located across Sinking Creek from Fincastle . . . continues to be the Fincastle Church). Robert Finley identified as a person coming from Tinkling Spring background, along with George Breckenridge. (Wilson, page 170-71).

 

1765-1770 - Robert Finley, Sr. listed as Tinkling Spring subscriber in lower quarter of South River. Capt. John and Will Finley also listed in lower quarter. (Wilson, page 440)

JWJ comment, "Assuming he married at about the age of 25, it appears to me he was no more than 45 years of age in 1792. Note: C. Richard Covault, 10247 Hutton Drive, Sun City, AZ 85351 (as of 1981) claims Robert, son of William as his ancestor. He also says Robert died 15 November 1815, age 72 years; wife Martha died 16 February 1824, age 78 years; and they are buried at Cherry Fork Cemetery in Adams County, OH. Verification is being sought (8/13/91).
