THIS INDENTURE, made the thirty first day of October one thousand seven hundred and ninty two, between John Finley of Knox County in the Territory of the United State So west of the River Ohio of the one part and Peter Fulkerson of Washington County and State of Virginia of the other part, Witnesseth, that the said John Finley for and in consideration of the sum of One hundred pounds current money of Virginia to him in hand paid. Doth bargain and sell unto the said Peter Fulkerson and his heirs, one certain tract or parcel of land in the said County of Washington, containing three hundred and twelve acres, Granted to the said John Finley by pattent dated the twenty second day of Oct. one thousand seven hundred and eighty five lying and being in the County of Washington, on the head waters of the East fork of Wallace's branch the waters of the North fork of Holstons River and bounded as followeth to wit BEGINNING at white Oak and two poplars on the South side of a chesnut ridge running thence South forty five degrees East one hundred and sixteen poles to a white Oak by a Valley, South one degree west sixty eight poles to two white oaks by said Valley; South thirty six degrees East one hundred and seventy six poles to a black oak & two dogwoods, North thirty seven degrees East five poles to Chesnut and dogwood corner to Gilbert Watsons land, and with his line S. 26 E. 73 poles to a chesnut South nineteen degrees west sixty poles to a chesnut stump, South sixty five degrees west 58 poles to a black oak sapling near the top of a ridge in a line of George Finleys lands and with the same N. 17 W. 45 poles to a black oak and two poplars, N. 74 W. 80 poles to a forked dogwood and white oak N. 35 W. 64 poles to a sugar tree and white Walnut, N. 22 W. 220 poles to two chesnuts from one root on the first numbered ridge N. 29 E. 128 poles along said ridge to the Beginning, Together with all its appurtenances, TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said Tract or parcel of Land with its appurtenances to the said Peter Fulkerson and his heirs, to the sole use and behoof of him the said Peter Fulkerson and his heirs forever. And the said John Finley for himself and his heirs, doth covenant with said Peter Fulkerson and his heirs, that he the said John Finley and his heirs the said Land with all the appurtenances unto the said Peter Fulkerson and his heirs against all persons whatever will forever warrant and defend. In Witness whereof the said John Finley hath hereunto subscribed his name and affixed his seal the year and day above written.

This INDENTURE of bargain and sale between John Finley of the one part and Peter Fulkerson of the other part was proven in court by the oath of John White, George Clark and Benjamin Longley subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded.
