A. Peck atty for Robert Finley to William Emmons, 272 acres, 9 May 1787, Botetourt County, Virginia, DB 3:479-480

 

This Indenture made this ninth Day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand

seven hundred and eighty seven between Adam Peck attorney in fact for Robert

Finley of the one part and William Emmons both of Botetourt County of the other

part. Witnesseth that the said Adam Peck for and in consideration of the sum of

one hundred pounds current money of Virginia to the said Robt Finley in hand paid

the Receipt of which the sd Peck doth acknowledge hath granted bargained & sold

and by these presents doth grant bargain and sold unto the said William Emmons

one certain Tract or parcel of land lying in the County of Botetourt now in the

possession of the said Emmons containing two hundred and seventy two acres be the

same more or less and bounded as followeth, to wit. Begining at two white oaks

on a Ridge in a Line of Thomas Miller's Land and with the Same North sixty eight

Degrees West forty four poles to a crooked white Oak North twenty three Degrees

West thirty two poles to a poplar by a Branch in a Line of Wm Hutchisons Land and

with the same South fifty five Degrees West twenty six poles to a Spanish Oak

black Oak & red Oak South forty three Degrees West forty poles to three Hickory

Saplings South eighty Degrees West twenty poles to a black Oak and two Hickory

Saplins South seventy? Degrees West one hundred and two poles to a white Oak in a

Valley South twenty Degrees East fifty six poles to a white Oak on Land in a Line

of Alderson's Land East fifty poles crossing the Branch to a black Oak and White

Oak South one hundred and twenty poles to two black Oaks to a Ridge South ten

Degrees East thirty five poles to two Hickories one white Oak and three Walnut

Saplings South seventy Degrees East ninety four poles to between a black oak and

white Oak Saplins South fifty six Degrees East fifty four Poles to four white oak

saplins Corner to the said Smith's Land (alias Millers) and with a Line of the

same to the Beginning and all the Buildings, Profits, Hereditaments, and

Appurtenances whatsoever to the said premises hereby granted or any part thereof

Belonging or in any wise appurtaining and the Reversion and Reversions Remainder

and Remainders Rents and Profits thereof and also all the Estate Right Interest

Claim or Demand whatsoever of the said Robert Finley of in and to said Premises

and all Deeds and Wait??? touching or in any Wise concerning the Same To Have &

to Hold the said two hundred and seventy two Acres of Land and every part and

parcel thereof with all their appurtenances unto the said William Emmons his

Heirs and assigns forever to the only proper Use and Behoof of him the said

William Emmons and his Heirs and assigns forever and the said Adam Peck for the

said Robert Finley his Heirs, Exors, the said Granted Lands and Premises to the

said William Emmons and his Heirs will forever Warrant and Defend by these

presents. In Witness whereof the said Peck as Attorney for the said Robert

Finley hath hereunto set his Hand and Seal the Day and Year within Written.
