THIS INDENTURE made the 25 day of August in the Year of our Lord one Thousand
Seven Hundred and Eighty Three Between William Downing & Rachel his wife of the
County of Bedford of the one Part and Edward Donohoe Junr of the County of
Bedford of the other Part Witnesseth that the said James (sic)* Downing for and
in Consideration of Two Hundred Pounds Current money of Virginia hath given
granted Bargained and sold unto the said Edward Donohoe Junr and his Heirs a
Certain Tract or Parcel of Land in the County of Bedford Containing Two Hundred
Twelve and a half acres on Meadows Creek Bounded as follows towit Beginning North
Twelve degrees west one Hundred and four Poles to Pointers on a Red Oak South
Eighty Two degrees west one Hundred and Sixty four Poles to a Red Oak South five
degrees west on Hundred and Thirty Eight Poles to a Shrub white Oak South Sixteen
degrees East forty Two Poles to a Red Oak East one Hundred and fifty Six Poles to
a Shrub to a Shrub white Oak North Sixty degrees East Seventy Poles to a white
Oak on Meadows Creek aforesaid and up the same to the first Station Together with
all its appurtenances To Have and to hold the said Tract or Parcel of Land with
its appurtenances unto the said Edward Donohoe junr and his Heirs and the said Wm
Downing & his wife & their Heirs the said Tract or Parcel of Land with its
appurtenances to the said Edward Donohoe Junr and his Heirs will forever Warrant
and Defend In Witness whereof the said Wm Downing & Rachel his wife have hereunto

This Indenture was acknowledged by William Downing and Rachel his wife the said
Rachel having been first privily Examined according to Law Relinquished her Right
of Dower in and to the Land and Premises Conveyed by this Indenture which is
Ordered to be Rcorded
