To All to Whom these Presents shall Come, Greeting:
Know Ye, That by virtue of a certificate in right of settlement given by the commissioners for adjusting the Titles to unpatented lands in the district of Monogalia Yohogania & Ohio & in consideration of the ancient composition of two pounds sterling paid by Agnes Finley into the treasury of this commonwealth there is granted by the said commonwealth unto the said Agnes Finley assignee of Robert Lemon a certain tract or parcel of land containing 400 acres by survey bearing date the 9th day of September 1785 lying & being in the county of Ohio including his settlement made theron in the year 1775 on the waters of Short Creek & bounded as followith, to wit, Beginning at two sugar trees on John Banes line & running with his line 5.52 degrees E. 144 poles to a sugar tree on Newlands run thence up said run N. 16 degrees E. 44 poles thence N. 57 degrees E. 76 poles thence N. 35 degrees E. 50 poles thence N. 75 degrees E. 55 poles thence N. 56 degrees E. 34 poles to a sugar tree & white walnut thence leaving said run N. 30 degrees W. 259 poles to a black oak thence S. 55 degrees W. 69 poles to a birch thence 5.69 degrees W. 92 poles to a hickory thence S 20 degrees W. 41 poles to awhite oak thence S. 15 degrees E. 48 poles to 2 sugar trees thence S. 95 poles to a white walnut thence S. 33 degrees W. 49 poles to the Begining with its appurtenances.
To have and to hold the said Tract or Parcel of Land, with its appurtenances, to the said Agnes Finley and her heirs forever. In witness whereof, The said Beverley Randolph, Esquire, Lieut Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, hath hereunto set his hand and caused the Lesser Seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed, at Richmond, on the 4th day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and 87 and of the Commonwealth the 11th.
