James Downing to Matthias Mounce, 221 acres on Clear Creek, branch of Dicks

River, 30 November 1793, Lincoln County, Kentucky, Deed Book B:310.

 

THIS INDENTURE made this thirtyeth day of November Anno Dom. one Thousand seven hundred & ninety three Between James Downing of the County of Lincoln of the one part and Matthias Mounce of the same County of the other part Witnesseth that the said James Downing for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred and twenty one pounds current money of Kentucky to him in hand paid by the said Matthias Mounce the receipt whereof he the said Downing doth hereby acknowledge and he himself fully satisfied & contented therewith and doth freely clearly and Absolutely sell, Alien, ??? and confirm unto the aforesaid Matthias Mounce and unto his Heirs and assigns Forever, one certain Tract dividend or parcell of Land containing by survey two hundred & twenty one acres situate lying and being in Lincoln County on the waters of Clear Creek a branch of Dicks River and is bounded as follow (to wit) Beginning at a buckeye tree the South East Corner of William Montgomerys Land thence with his line North one hundred and sixty eight poles to his North East Corner a Beach and Poplar in Lewis Myers Line and with the same East Twenty poles to his corner white oak and two Dogwood trees, Thence along the said Myers line North on hundred and Fifty two poles to a Hacberry and two Dogwoods in Myers line, and a corner to Joshua Burdettes land and with his line East one hundred poles to two Dogwoods the said Burdetts South East corner Thence South three hundred and twenty poles passing his corner to a Sugar Tree standing on Jacob Copelins old line and with the same West one hundred and Twenty poles to the Beginning containing two hundred and Twenty one acres be the same more or less with its Appurtenances to him the said Matthias Mounce and unto his Heirs and assigns Forever. TO HAVE & TO HOLD the said two hundred & twenty one acres of Land and all and every of its rights members and appurtenances to him the said Matthias Mounce and unto his Heirs and Assigns to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Matthias Mounce his Heirs & Assigns Forever and the said James Downing for himself and his Heirs do and shall and will by these presents Forever Warrant and defend the Title of the aforesaid Two hundred and twenty one acres of Land & premises against the claim of all and every person or persons that shall or may hereafter claim the same unto the aforesaid Matthias Mounce and unto his Heirs & Assigns Forever. At a County Court held for Lincoln County the 18th day March 1794. This Indenture was proved to be the act and deed of the said James Downing by the oaths of Thomas Coplin, Smith Mounce & Ezekiel Downing witnesses thereto and ordered to be Recorded.
