24 January 1799 - Thomas Dix to John Finley, both of Knoxville, $100, 400 acres in the middle District on Wool River, a part of 1000 acres tract deeded from Francis Mayberry to Thomas Dix. 24 July 1799 - John Finley bound to appear in court on 2 Mondy of October next to answer to George Gordon, $60 debt and $50 damages. (no reference - document contains original signature of John Finley).

14 October 1807 - John Hunter vs. John Findly, Jesse Wallace and James Knox ... land dispute ... the said John Findly some time in the fall of the year one thousand seven hundred and ninety seven went from Knoxville where he had resided for several years ... Findly resided in or about Knoxville all of 1796 and about 10 March 1797 he left Knoxville and went to Franklin County, PA where his father resides, intending to return to Knoxville. 27 June 1810 - John Finley granted 78 acres in district south of French Broad and Holston; surveyed 8 February 1897, vol. 3:92-93; LDS #1012794.

 

15 October 1812, Judgment against John Finley, property sold to Moses White, fieri facias served 23 July 1804; registered June 1817, DB P1:416.

 

5 January 1818 - Stephen Groves Administrator of John Findley decd returned into court an account of sales of the estate of said deceased, Knox County Court Minutes, vol 9:114. (Searcher, Rene Jordan, states, many case files or loose papers have not been preserved, and many have not been organized ... he checked with Archives staff, but found nothing more).

 

First Monday of July 1819 - A power of Attorney from John Finley to David Finley was acknowledged in open Court and ordered to be certified, Knox County Court Minutes, vol 10-2:70.

13 February 1830 - Ganon(?) M. Walters of Knox County and John L. Walters of Jefferson County, TN to John Finley of Knox County, $60 to each of them, 100 acres given to Sibby(?)
