John Hackney Will, 4th day 1809, Blount County, TN, Will Book ?:66.

I, John Hackney of Blount County and State of Tennessee being weak of body but of perfect mind and memory but knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do therefore this forth day of the time in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and nine make and ordain this my last will and testament in the following manner. And as touching my worldly substance as it hath pleased the lord to bless me with I bequeath give devise and dispose of as follows. I allow my funeral charges and just debts to be first paid out of my estate. I ordain and substitute my beloved wife Rebekah Hackney and my son Hugh Hackney my hole and sole executors and executrix of my last will and testament as trustees of the whole. I give and bequeath to my wife Rebekah all my househole furniture and all my horn cattle and my black horse Gilbert and all my sheep and swine and to have her maintainance out of the milk and saltation while she remains my widow and all the househole furniture to be at her own disposal. And I give to my son Hugh Hackney one hundred acres followed the plase whereon he know lives - also I give to my son John Hackney one half of the mills - also I allow to my son Joseph the plantation whereon he now doth live. also I allow my son Aaron Hackney the plantation where my son Joseph Hackney formerly lived. also I allow Aron the black Dick horse. I also give to my son Thomas Hackney one half of my half of the mills and all the lands on the same side of the Creek the mill on, only what is allotted for the meeting house. Also a young Sorrel mare named Fly. also I give to my son Samuel Hackney all the land on the side I now live on also the other half of my half of the mills also a young Bay horse named Dolfin. also it is my will that my mare Jet to be sold. also I give and bequeath to Ellmer Woody twenty dollars - Furthermore I allow my Wagon and Plows and all my plantation tools for the use of the plantation. - In witness and testimony whereof I John Hackney have set my hand and affixed my Seal the day and year above written - John Hackney (seal)
