Tavenah Head Oath Regarding Slaves, 27 March 1847, Logan County, Kentucky,
DB 28:534
Logan Co. Court. I, Tavenah Head do solemly swear that my removal to the state of Kentucky was with the intention of becoming a citizen thereof and that I have brought with me no slave or slaves with intention of selling them and that I was wholly ignorant of any law of the state of Kentucky requiring emigrants to take an oath respecting the slaves brought with them into the state and the omission on my part to take oath required by that act and within time prescribed was wholly the result of being ignorant of its existance. So help me God.
Tavenah Head
Sworn to before me a Justice of the
