Tavenah Head to James M. Head, 3 January 1848, Sumner Co., Tennessee,

This Indenture made this 3rd day of January 1848 between Tavenah Head of the County of Sumner and State of Tennessee of the one part and James M. Head of the County and State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Tavenah Head for and in consideration of the sum of One thousand dollars to him in hand paid by the said James M. Head the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargained and sold and by these presents doth bargain and sell unto the said James M. Head a certain tract or parcel of land containing fifty acres lying and being in the aforesaid County of Sumner and State of Tennessee on the waters of the Lick Creek and bounded as followeth viz. Beginning at a White Oak M. T.(?) Brown's line and corner to the heirs of James Dickerson thence North with said Dickerson's line to a Sugar tree Corner to the heirs of John R. Dickerson the same course continued with said Dickerson's line in all 184 poles to a White Oak in Thomas Stone's South boundary line and corner to Said Dickerson thence West with said Stone's South boundary line 43 1/2 poles to a White Oak thence South 184 poles to a Sugar tree in Susan Brown's line thence with said Brown's line East 43 1/2 poles to the beginning To have and to hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of land with the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto the said James M. Head his heirs and assigns forever and the said Tavenah Head doth covenant and agree to warrant and defend the aforesaid tract or parcel of land to the above named James M. Head against the lawful claims of all others. In testimony whereof the said Tavenah Head hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and date first herein written.

Personally appeared before me William S. Munday Clerk of the County Court of said County Tavenah Head the bargains with whom I am personally acquainted and who acknowledged that he recorded the foregoing Deed for the purposes therein contained Witness my hand at Office this 22nd day of February 1848.
