William H. Head and Elizabeth, his wife, to Philamon Davis, 110 acres, 12
December 1853, Logan County, KY, DB 33:126,
This Indenture made and entered into this 12th day of December 1852 between William H. Head,
and Elizabeth Head his wife of the first part, and Philemon Davis of the second part, all of Logan
County Kentucky Witnesseth that the said Head for and in consideration of the sum of Five
Hundred and ninety six Dollars and 32 cents to be paid to him in the following manner by said
Davis To wit, one Hundred Dollars in hand paid the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, one
hundred and twenty one Dollars & 50 cents to be paid on the 25th day of Decr 1853, with interest
from the 15th day of July 1853, One Hundred and sixty six Dollars & 66 cents to be paid 25th
Decr 1854, One Hundred, & sixty six Dollars & 66 cents to be paid 25th day of Decr 1855, and
forty one Dollars & 50 cents to be paid 1st Sept 1854, all of said notes bear date 15th July 1853,
and the receipt of said notes are hereby acknowledged, the said Head and wife doth by these
presents Bargain sell and convy unto the said Davis his heirs and assigns forever, a certain tract or
parcel of land lying in Logan County Ky and Bounded as followeth Beginning at a small post oak
and sassafras on the side of a Knob, thence N16, W184 poles to four post oaks and two
blackjacks blazed on boath sides of an old road thence S69 3/4 W64 3/4 poles to an Elm, corner
to the land of old Ewing(?) tract, thence S54 poles to a Stake, thence W21 to three black oaks
thence S16 E 89 2/3 poles to a Black walnut, thence S16 E50 poles to a stake, on the north side
of the old Christian road, Thence N74 1/2 E28 3/4 poles to a post oak, Thence N70 E79 3/4
poles to the Beginning, containing one hundred & ten acres more or less, To have & to hold the
before described tract or parcel of land to the said Davis his heirs and assigns forever free from all
claims & titles whatever, the said Head will by these presents warrant & forever defend, the
before described tract of Land, It is expressly understood that a lien is retained on the before
described tract of land, until the before described notes are satisfied & paid off. In testimony of
which the said Head & wife hereto set their names & seals the date first herein written.

I James E. Wright Clerk of the Logan County Court do certify that this deed, from William H. Head and Elizabeth A. Head his wife to Philemon Davis, was on the 13th day of November 1853 produced to me in my office and acknowledged by said Wm H. Head and Elizabeth A. Head to be their act and deed, Whereupon the same together with this certificate hath been duly admitted to record in my office, Given under my hand this 7th day of April 1854. James E. Wright Clerk
