[illegible] County and State of Virginia
with his now (illegible) servant and the consent of his guardian
put and bound himself apprentice unto John Finley which said
[illegible] and father [illegible] to learn him in the art and trade or mystery
of a [illegible] and [illegible] and after the manner of an apprentice
to serve from the day of the date hereof for and during
the term of seven years during all which time he
the said apprentice his said master faithfully shall serve
secrets keep his lawful commands every where gladly obey he shall
do no damage to his said master nor see it to be done by others and
if any be done he shall give notice to his said master thereof
his said master he shall not waste the goods nor lend them unlawfully to any
he shall not commit matrimony he shall not frequent taverns
dice or any other unlawful game he shall not absent himself by day
nor night from his said master’s service without his leave nor haunt alehouses
but in all things behave himself as a faithful apprentice ought to do
during said term and the said master shall use the utmost of his
endeavours to teach or cause to be taught or instructed the said apprentice
in the said art or mystery and procure him sufficient meat drink washing
lodging and apparel sufficient for an apprentice during said
term and at the expiration of said term find and allow
to the said apprentice a new suit of [illegible] clothes and
[illegible] for the true performance of every the above articles
we bind ourselves each to the other by these presents in witness
whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals this 4th
day of January 1793
