In the name of God Amen September 28th 1773, Thomas Caldwell
of Prince Edward County being of Perfect mind and Memory thanks to
God for the same, calling to mind the Mortality of by Body and
knowing that all men must Die, do make and ordain this my
last Will and Testament, that is to say principally and first of
all I recommend my soul to God who gave it and my body I
recommend to the Earth to be buried in a Christian like
manner at the discretion of my Executor, and touchinge
such worldly Estate as it has pleased God to bless me with
in this life I give and dispose of in the forthcoming manner
and form.
Imprimis it is my Will and I do order in the first place
all my just Debts and finicial Charges be paid, I then
give and bequeath unto my Brother John Caldwell all that
I am possessed with, whether Bills, Bonds, accounts and
anything else pertaining to me in anywise, and I do hereby
utterly revoke and disanull all former Wills of Legacies
heretofore by me made, and confirm this to be my Last
Will and Testament and do constitute and appoint my
Brother John Caldwell my only and sole Executor of this
my last Will and Testament, In Witness whereof I have
hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year
above written.

At a Court held for Prince Edward County April 18th 1774, This last
Will and Testament of Thomas Caldwell Sen decd was presented in
Court and proved by Thomas Caldwell junr witness thereto, and
on the motion of John Caldwell who gave Bond and took the
oath as the law requires Certificate for obtaining a probat
thereof in due form is granted to him
